Particle Filters/Water Traps
Compressing air forces water vapor out and that water must collect somewhere in your compressor. Airpower's range of Particle Filters or Water Traps are also designed to remove contaminants and unwanted debris from your air systems.
Particle Filters & Water Traps
Water is not compressible and if water gets into your air compressor's pneumatic valves and cylinders, it cannot give way and cause damage to the pneumatic equipment.
An ordinary water trap can only catch the droplets of water if the air and droplets pass through the filter.
Any water condensing after the filter passes the filter as compressed air and not as water. The filter also cannot create air, if it only gets a stream of water entering the filter. This stream of water will run straight through the filter.
What is the function of a Particle Filter or Water Trap?
The air compressor filter or as some people call it, the water trap, works on the dew-point of the air. The higher the pressure, the higher the dew-point, and the more effective is the filter. This is why the filter must always be where the pressure is the highest and always upstream of the regulator.
The compressed air is still saturated, at the specific pressure and temperature, after a filter. If the air cools down or the pressure increase through a compressor device, moisture will condense out again. Filters can only take droplets of water from the air. Any condensation after the filter is seen by the filter as a gas and cannot remove it from the air.
Ultra Filters
Airpower stock the standard 25-micron filters, Coalescing filters, and activated carbon filters. These have an oil carry over 0.01 mg / m³. We also manufacture replacement elements for opposition filters.
We also stock sintered metal filters, 25 microns, from ¼” BSP up to 1” BSP Coalescing filters, 0.1micron, and 0.01 micron. Activated carbon filters, 0.001micron. Our brands include Donaldson, Omega, and Camozzi ex stock.
Airpower stocks a variety of other Air Compressor Spare Parts including Vertical Air Receivers, Regulators, Lubricators, Carbon filters, and Gauges.
Refrigerated Dryers
Refrigerated air dryers from 750 liters/min up to 17000 liter/min ex-stock. Larger ex overseas. Dew point 4°C under pressure. Automatic drain pre and manual drain after filters.
Screw Compressors
Screw compressors have no valves or other mechanical forces to cause imbalances unlike piston compressors.
Compressor Components
Airpower keeps universal spare parts for compressors. Pressure switches, non return valves and safety valves are universal to all compressors. Bottom entry filters/ regulators, electric motors and starters can be used for many makes of compressors.
