Humidity Control Systems
Airpower is an Optiguide agent. Optiguide is an Israeli company and this system is used in wine cellars, to prevent wine evaporating from the wine barrels. In vegetable stores to keep the product fresh. In cold rooms to prevent the products to lose juice from the fruit. In mushroom grow rooms, to improve product quality and yield. In abattoirs to prevent the meat to lose weight. In all the above applications and in gathering places to cool the atmosphere.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What is Optiguide’s Dry Fog humidity control system, and how does it work?
Answer: Optiguide uses the Tabor Atomizer, a dry-fog humidification system that generates ultra-fine droplets (2–10 µm) combining low-pressure compressed air and water. These droplets evaporate instantly, raising humidity without causing wet surfaces, condensation, or mold risk. The system operates without moving parts, minimizing clogging and reducing maintenance costs.
2. In which industries is Optiguide’s system most effective?
Answer: Optiguide systems are widely used in:
-
Wine cellars/barrel rooms, to reduce evaporation (“angel’s share”) and prevent wine loss, maintaining product integrity.
-
Cold storage/vegetable stores, to preserve moisture and weight in fruits and vegetables during long-term storage.
-
Mushroom grow rooms, enhancing humidity control to boost yield and quality.
-
Abattoirs, to prevent meat weight loss through dehydration.
-
Gathering or cooling spaces, for atmospheric cooling while keeping humidity under control.
3. Why is humidity control critical in wine cellars? What range should be maintained?
Answer: In wine storage, humidity prevents corks from drying out and shrinking—if humidity drops below about 50–60%, corks can fail and allow oxidation. Too much humidity (above 80%) risks mold growth on labels and barrels. Ideal cellar humidity typically ranges from 60–80% RH, with many experts recommending 75–85% RH for barrel ageing to reduce evaporation of fine wine.
4. How does Optiguide help prevent weight loss in stored produce or meat?
Answer: In cold storage of fruits and vegetables, Optiguide’s dry fog maintains air humidity above 85–90%, significantly reducing water loss. Studies show that increasing relative humidity can reduce weight loss in potatoes from around 25% to as low as 2–4% over several months. Similarly, abattoirs benefit from reduced meat dehydration and improved final yield.
5. What are the benefits of choosing Optiguide through Airpower in South Africa?
Answer: Airpower, as an Optiguide agent, offers localized access to expert service and tailored installations for your humidity control needs. With in-country support, we ensure proper system sizing, sensor calibration, and ongoing maintenance guidance—minimizing system downtime and maximising product preservation across varied industry applications
Refrigerated Dryers
Refrigerated air dryers from 750 liters/min up to 17000 liter/min ex-stock. Larger ex overseas. Dew point 4°C under pressure. Automatic drain pre and manual drain after filters.
Screw Compressors
Screw compressors have no valves or other mechanical forces to cause imbalances unlike piston compressors.
Compressor Components
Airpower keeps universal spare parts for compressors. Pressure switches, non return valves and safety valves are universal to all compressors. Bottom entry filters/ regulators, electric motors and starters can be used for many makes of compressors.
