Vane Compressor
Synthetic Oils

Airpower stock synthetic oil for any air compressor or vacuum pump. Airpower keep synthetic oil with a H2 food grade classification. We can supply international acceptable certificates for the oil.

Our CPI Synthetic Lubricant for Vane Compressors

Oil

H2 Food Grade Synthetic Oil:

Expected life of this CPI Synthetic Lubricant is 2000 hours.

Every 2000 hours the oil and air filter must be replaced.

Please do not mix different oils in a compressor.

The normal running temperature for synthetic oil is 60°C up to 95 °C.

Although synthetic oils can withstand much higher temperatures, Airpower will not recommend temperatures of higher than 105 °C.

Mineral Oil vs Synthetic Oil

Synthetic oils have 4 to 12 times the life expectancy of mineral oil. This extends your service intervals, although you still have to replace your oil filter and air filter at the recommended intervals.

Synthetic oils run cleaner and cooler than mineral oils but are much more expensive.

With synthetic oils, you can get H1 and H2 approved food-grade oils. This is normally used in food processing factories.

The Purpose of Oil in a Vane Compressor

The oil in a piston compressor lubricates all the moving parts but also cools the machine, it also prevents friction on the vanes and other moving parts while serving as a sealant to prevent leakage.

The oil carries the heat away from the heated parts in the machine, seals the air between the vanes which cools the compressor, allowing the compressor to run continuously without overheating.

Lack of compressor oil can lead to leaks, reducing the efficiency of your compressor and the maximum pressure it can produce.

Ideal Oil Temperatures in Air Compressors

For every 10 °C the oil is increasing in temperature, you half the life expectancy of the oil. If the oil temperature is running for long periods of time at lower than 65 °C, moisture builds up in the oil and can cause rust and loses the lubrication function.

The oil with too much moisture becomes milky in colour. The maximum temperature recommended is 105 °C on the oil. Above this temperature, your oil starts to break down and can also catch alight.

What Oil Should I Use In My Air Compressor?

Never use multi-grade oil in any compressor. It carbons up on the valves and outlet pipes. Use a straight monograde mineral oil only.

Why do some people use synthetic oils? Synthetic oils have 4 to 12 times the life expectancy of mineral oil. This reduces your service intervals, although you must still replace your oil filter and air filter at the recommended intervals.

Your oil and separator filter will last much longer. With synthetic oils, you can get H1 and H2 approved food-grade oils. This is normally used in food processing factories.

Never mix different synthetic oils by topping up with a different brand of oil. These oils can react with one another and become a thick syrup sludge and ruin the complete compressor. Synthetic oils run cleaner and cooler than mineral oils but are much more expensive.

Airpower stock mineral oil and synthetic oil for any air compressor or vacuum pump. Airpower keeps synthetic oil with an H1 and oil with an H2 food-grade classification.

We can supply internationally acceptable certificates for the oil.
